How would you decide whether or not there is ‘too much’ reliance on communication technologies?

To determine that the technology would had to be void from use for a certain long period of time and recorded as a psychological experiment for use in further research in the future on the subject, as this type of study is fairly new as it has been changing becoming more efficient, affordable, faster and all around stronger than before the turn of the millennium. So the experiment would see how one would go about their daily life without it, after being so use to having that technology, in their daily life.
